One of the goals of President Volodymyr Zelensky’s visit to Europe is to work on the creation of an international coalition for the transfer of modern fighter jets to Ukraine. The Head of State announced this during a joint conference with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.
“We are currently working on the creation of a fighter jet coalition, and my visits to European capitals are partly aimed at this. I think we will have success. Today, I will also appeal to the German side to support Ukraine in this coalition. For us, it’s important,” the President said.
According to Zelensky, he will discuss the transfer of fighter jets with the German Chancellor during the second part of their meeting.
During the conference, Scholz noted that Germany has helped Ukraine a lot since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Russia. Today, it is necessary to force the Russian Federation to leave the occupied territory.
“We have already delivered a lot in terms of air defence, including Patriot, IRIS-T, Gepard, as well as other weapons, various artillery systems, and multiple rocket launchers. This is what we focus on,” the Chancellor said.
As a reminder, one day earlier Volodymyr Zelensky visited Italy to meet with Pope Francis, the President and the Prime Minister of Italy.
The Italian leadership assured that they would provide Kyiv with full support on the path to joining the EU and would also continue military assistance.
