Join us in the streets of Brussels on 12 May 12 to demand the termination of the gas contract between Fluxys and Russia. The gas contract makes Zeebrugge the largest hub for Russian liquefied gas in the world.
Why?
* By allowing Russian gas to flow through the port of Zeebrugge, we strengthen Russia’s military capability that will allow it to sustain its war of aggression against Ukraine.
* The Russian gas industry is highly dependent on access to Zeebrugge. By denying that access, we undermine Russia’s plans to triple its LNG production capacity by 2030, which would be an outright climate disaster.
We support the actions taken by Minister of Energy Tinne Van der Straeten to push for a European ban on the transshipment of Russian LNG, and call on all Belgian governments to support this proposal.
Together, we send a clear message to Fluxys and the federal government:
* Our trade relations should help protect human rights, rather than fund wars.
* Fossil fuels and infrastructure expansion are plans of the past and have no future.
This protest invites members of the Ukrainian community, so we keep a serene tone as we commemorate the victims of war. It will be a peacefull, silent protest march and we invite you to come dressed in black or to bring black flags or banners. Our march departs at energy minister Tinne Van der Straeten’s office and heads to the headquarters of Fluxys.
We want this event to be accessible to everyone. If you encounter financial, language or other barriers, or if you have questions about accessibility or other matters, please do not hesitate to send an email to jo@vredesactie.be.
In our events, there is no space for sexism, racism, ageism, ableism, trans- or LGBT-phobia and other forms of hatred.
