Lithuanian authorities are ready to deliver lethal weapons to Ukraine. According to LRT, Minister of National Defence of Lithuania Arvydas Anušauskas made a corresponding statement at a joint press conference with German Defence Minister Christine Lambrecht.
“We need to support Ukraine with all means, and Lithuania is ready for this, which includes the delivery of lethal weapons,” Anušauskas said.
However, he did not specify what weapons Vilnius can hand over to Kyiv.
“I will not give a direct answer now. This is a matter of multilateral agreement because several states are involved, not only the donor and recipient of weapons but also manufacturer and supplier,” the Minister of National Defence of Lithuania said.
The day before, Christine Lambrecht suggested that new EU sanctions over the situation around Ukraine should be imposed on the immediate leaders of the Russian Federation, including President Vladimir Putin. The German minister also said that Russia could not dictate terms to NATO.
As a reminder, British Secretary of State for Defence Ben Wallace said that Western powers were “unlikely” to help Ukraine with troops in the case of a large-scale Russian invasion.
