On 13 May, from 13:00 to 14:00, a demonstration organised by Promote Ukraine and ICUV – International Centre for Ukrainian Victory took place near the Belgian Federal Parliament to call on the government and Belgian Prime Minister to take a leading role in providing air defence systems to Ukraine.
We believe the best funds to use to purchase such systems are frozen Russian state assets.
The Russian Central Bank holds approximately €210 billion within the EU, primarily in Belgium. We believe these funds should be used to strengthen Ukraine’s air defence without prolongation.
During the demonstration, we also passed an open letter to Belgian Prime Minister Alexander De Croo calling him to take immediate action.
From the bottom of our hearts, we would like to express gratitude for presents and words of support to:
- Johan Van Overtveldt, Deputy of the European Parliament
- Mark Demesmaeker, Senator of Belgium
- Carlo Van Grootel, Spokesperson and Advisor President PACE
Thanks also to the volunteers and activists who don’t stay aside and join demonstrations!
