Ukraine will soon receive military assistance from the United Kingdom, including missile weapons and advanced technology, Ambassador of Ukraine to the United Kingdom Vadym Prystaiko said, talking about the first results achieved thanks to the UK–Ukraine agreement concluded last year.
The diplomat noted that London was actively providing military assistance to Kyiv, promoting the idea of Ukraine’s accession to NATO, and was ready to help restore our country’s naval power.
“I believe that two operating ships will be purchased in the near future. They will immediately join the Ukrainian Navy. Construction of two naval ports will start. Construction of smaller ships will begin in Ukraine and Britain. And, finally, which is very important, we will also receive missile weapons, which will allow us to really strengthen our capabilities at sea,” said the diplomat.
According to Prystaiko, the two ships to be purchased from the UK are minesweepers that will help protect the coast from the mine threat.
Earlier it became known that Ukraine was negotiating the purchase of two Sandown-class minesweepers from the UK. It is planned to buy the ships with credit funds provided by the United Kingdom for the development of the Ukrainian Navy.
