Ahead of the release of the European Commission’s conclusion on Ukraine’s application for EU membership, activists will hold a rally in the European Quarter of Brussels in support of granting Ukraine EU candidate status.
“We invite you to join the formation of a symbolic EU-Ukraine human chain around the European Commission’s Berlaymont building to support Ukraine’s application for EU candidate status! Between 14:00 and 16:00 on 12 June, Europeans and Ukrainians covered with Ukrainian and EU flags will stand around the Berlaymont building, holding hands and showing Europe that Ukraine belongs to the European family,” NGO Promote Ukraine posted on Facebook, Ukrinform reports.
According to the organisers, Ukraine is at the forefront of the struggle for European values and peace in Europe. Every day, Ukrainians give their lives for the independence of their country and its European future, precisely for the European values on which the European Union is founded.
The rally participants will express solidarity with Ukraine and will call on the EU member states to take a positive decision on granting Ukraine the status of a candidate country for EU membership.
Everyone who cares about Ukraine’s European future is invited to a rally in the central Schuman Square on Sunday. The rally participants are asked to bring EU and Ukrainian flags.
