Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valeriy Zaluzhny has reported that Russian forces fired 75 missiles at Ukrainian cities this morning, 41 of which were shot down by the Ukrainian air defence units.
“The Russian Federation, the terrorist state, is launching massive missile and air strikes on the territory of Ukraine, using combat UAVs. In the morning, the aggressor launched 75 missiles, 41 of which were neutralised by our air defence units. The Armed Forces are doing everything possible to protect their fellow citizens,” Zaluzhny wrote.
Later, the command of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine clarified that as of 11:40, the arrival of more than 80 missiles was recorded, of which 45 were shot down. In addition, the air defence units destroyed nine out of 12 Shahed-136 kamikaze drones.
“The enemy uses high-precision Kh-101, Kh-555 missiles, which are launched from strategic bombers from the Caspian region, as well as Kalibr missiles from the Black Sea, as well as Iskander, S-300 missiles and Tornado rockets,” said Yuriy Ihnat, the spokesman for the Air Force Command of the Armed Forces during the nationwide telethon.
He added that Russian planes had taken off from the Astrakhan region, flew to the north of the Caspian Sea, and launched missiles from there. The enemy is trying to deceive our air defence system.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian intelligence states that the Russians have been planning missile attacks on the Ukrainian capital and infrastructure since the beginning of October.
“According to Ukraine’s military intelligence data, the Russian-occupation forces received instructions from the Kremlin to prepare massive missile strikes on the civilian infrastructure of Ukraine on 2 and 3 October. Military units of strategic and long-range aviation received orders to prepare for the massive missile attacks. The objects of critical civilian infrastructure and the central areas of densely populated Ukrainian cities were identified as targets,” the Chief Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine states.
Special services believe that the main goal of the terrorist state was to destroy TPPs, create panic among Ukrainians, and intimidate the European public.
