The Russian-occupation forces mined the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Plant back in April and are now mining the locks and pillars of the dam, planning to blow them up.
“The ruscists foresee a quick liberation of the right-bank part of the Kherson region by Ukraine’s Defence Forces and prepare a series of terrorist attacks on this territory. In particular, the Kakhovka reservoir dam and the Kakhovka HPP units are at risk of collapse. During the current week, the locks and pillars of the Kakhovka HPP were additionally mined. Two tented Kamaz military trucks without drivers were placed on the dam. Both vehicles are fully loaded with boxes of explosives,” the press service of the Chief Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine reports.
The intelligence also emphasises that the terrorist state “deliberately prepares terrorist attacks that will lead to catastrophic consequences.”
“If these plans are implemented, dozens of Ukrainian settlements, including Kherson, will be affected. In this case, the scale of the ecological disaster will go far beyond the borders of Ukraine and affect the entire Black Sea region,” the report says.
The day before, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said during his address to the European Council that the Russian occupiers had mined the Kakhovka HPP dam and units and were planning to carry out a terrorist attack and then accuse the Ukrainian authorities of it.
According to the President of Ukraine, the environmental, humanitarian, and man-made consequences of this Russian terrorist attack may be so devastating that it “will be called a historical catastrophe.”
