The Defence Forces of Ukraine use the “thousand cuts” tactic in battles against the Russian occupiers and cannot stick to the classic Soviet type of warfare.
“A counteroffensive in the Ukrainian sense is a slightly different type of warfare. This is Russia waging a classic Soviet type of warfare, when they gather a few thousand troops and go to take half a kilometre of territory,” Mykhailo Podolyak, Adviser to the Head of the President’s Office, said during a nationwide telethon.
According to him, the Ukrainian command realises that waging such a war by the Ukrainian side is nonsense.
“We are actively engaging HIMARS and MLRS systems to destroy rear logistics. The number of our guided projectiles is increasing,” Podolyak noted.
He specified that the Armed Forces of Ukraine “are intensively destroying depot infrastructure – the depots of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd levels, fuel bases, operational-tactical headquarters.” Thus, Ukrainian soldiers bleed the military groups of the occupiers and gradually push them out of their territory.
At the same time, the Adviser to the Head of the President’s Office noted that the army was active now on the entire front.
“Today, [the army is active] in Melitopol direction, in Kharkiv direction, and, especially, in Donetsk-Luhansk direction. We use the ‘thousand cuts’ tactic. They must move their reserves along the entire front line in a panic. Let them think what Ukraine will target today,” Podolyak said.
As a reminder, the Defence Forces of Ukraine went on the counteroffensive in the south of Ukraine. Also, active fighting continues in Donbas.
As the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported, the Russian-occupation forces lost about 450 soldiers, 23 tanks, 33 armoured personnel vehicles, 24 artillery systems, etc. in just the past day.
