Ukraine’s parliament (Verkhovna Rada) has appointed a new Chairman of the National Bank of Ukraine. It is the Chairman of the Board of “Ukrgasbank” Kyrylo Shevchenko.
The day before, his candidacy for parliament was submitted by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky.
Kyrylo Shevchenko is 47 years old. Since 1998, he has been a professional stock market participant.
The new Chairman of the NBU used to work for the leading financial institutions of Ukraine, including Aval, Finance and Credit, and Oschadbank, and since 2015 he has been the Chairman of the Board of “Ukrgasbank.”
At a meeting of the Finance Committee of the Verkhovna Rada, Shevchenko outlined the vector of his further work and promised to prevent uncontrolled inflation and hryvnia emission.
It should be reminded that yesterday the Managing Director of the IMF Kristalina Georgieva in a conversation urged Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky to preserve the independence of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU).
