Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry: Statements by KGB of Belarus about ‘Weapons from Ukraine’ are Complete Nonsense

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine commented on the statement by chief of the State Security Committee (KGB) of Belarus Ivan Tertel, who accused Ukraine of supplying weapons “for terrorist attacks.”

According to Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Oleg Nikolenko, Tertel’s accusation is an attempt to intimidate Belarusians.

“It’s complete nonsense, which Belarusian officials have voiced not for the first time. We categorically reject a hackneyed mantra about ‘weapons from Ukraine.’ The Belarus authorities must finally stop intimidating the Belarusian people with a contrived external enemy,” Nikolenko posted on Twitter.

Earlier, chief of KGB of Belarus Ivan Tertel stated that large batches of weapons were allegedly supplied illegally from the territory of Ukraine to destabilise the situation in Belarus. He also said that terrorist attacks were planned, “in particular, with a threat of killing a large number of people.” Tertel noted that the situation in Belarus was also being “destabilised” by Western European countries, in particular by Poland.

Late last year, Alexander Lukashenka stated that a group of terrorists who “delivered tonnes of weapons” through the territory of Ukraine and had prepared terrorist attacks throughout Belarus was allegedly exposed.
