Ukraine wants Crimea itself, not compensation for it

Attempts to obtain compensation for the annexed Crimea are detrimental to the implementation of the strategy of illegal occupation of Ukraine. We need the peninsula itself, not compensation. This statement was voiced by the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba in an interview with Krym.Realii.

At the same time, he stressed that companies have the right to sue for lost property.

“Do you want us to recognize the illegal occupation, to ask for compensation for it? Or how? Like – pay money and everything will be fine? No! The strategy is completely different. We say that there is a temporary illegal occupation,” said the Foreign Minister.

Earlier the representative of the president in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea Anton Korynevych reported that work on the program on the reintegration of the Crimea proceeds.

Representatives of the previous government estimated the losses from the annexation of Crimea by Russia at almost a trillion hryvnias. And this without taking into account the lost benefits, the cost of minerals, and the sea shelf.
