Ukraine strengthens its combat capability in the Crimean direction

The Armed Forces of Ukraine work to increase combat capabilities in the Crimean direction, the commander of the joint forces in the Donbas Sergei Nayev stated.

“We clearly understand all the scenarios of the situation in this direction and adequately assess the capabilities of the Russian Federation Armed Forces to increase military power in a short time. Therefore, we have already done a definite job to increase our troops’ combat capabilities in this direction and we continue this work every day. The situation is under control,” the commander said.

According to him, Ukrainian intelligence has no information about a possible attack by the aggressor country from the Crimea. However, there are preparations for the large-scale military exercises “Caucasus 2020.” So thousands of Russian troops will arrive on the peninsula.

To recap, a spokesman for the Defense Ministry’s Main Intelligence Directorate, Vadym Skibitsky, said the strategic plan to use the Russian Armed Forces to create a land corridor to Crimea and to deprive Ukraine of access to the Black Sea and the oceans remained actual in Russia.

According to him, there is an airborne and naval components increase, as well as the growth of opportunities for military transport aircraft usage in the Crimea now.
