Ukraine Requests UN Security Council Meeting on Russia’s Sham Referenda in Occupied Territories

Kyiv requests an urgent meeting of the UN Security Council on Russia’s sham referenda held from 23 to 27 September in the occupied territories.

“Ukraine has requested an urgent meeting of the UN Security Council on Russia’s sham referendums in the occupied territories of Ukraine. Russia must be held accountable for its further attempts to change Ukraine’s internationally recognised borders in a violation of the UN Charter,” Oleg Nilokenko, spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, posted on Twitter.

At the same time, the Security Service of Ukraine states, based on materials received, that the occupiers had formed the “results” of sham referenda in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine as early as the beginning of September. So, the current illegal “voting” is organised simply to create the needed TV reports.
