With the entry into force of the visa-free regime, the organization “Promote Ukraine” made a video of the opinion of Europeans about Ukraine and Ukrainians. The presentation of the research was presented at a roundtable in Kyiv on 1 June 2017.
We have tried to understand what the Old World residents think about Ukraine: have they changed their perception of our country after the conflict between Russia and the annexation of Crimea?
Contrary to the widespread opinion that we are known for embroideries, borscht, and good-looking people, not many could remember the name of the Ukrainian president. The thesis about Ukrainian corruption and Chornobyl is very loud. Almost everyone knows about the annexation of Crimea and the conflict with Russia. Many of the respondents called the military conflict with Russia – internal civil war. Most people in Europe are well aware of the events of the Orange Revolution and Euromaidan.
It is noteworthy that the Europeans ignore the Russian propaganda theses about neo-Nazi ideologies in Ukraine – none mentioned such associations.
Some people know that Ukraine was related to the “breadbasket of Europe” during Soviet times. Some foreigners also note the high level of education of our people, democratic reform, and Ukrainian ballet!
