Ukraine and the United Kingdom agreed to jointly build warships and bases for the Ukrainian Navy, the press service of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine informed.
“Deputy Minister of Defence of Ukraine Oleksandr Myroniuk and Minister for Defence Procurement of the United Kingdom Jeremy Quin signed a Memorandum of Implementation for naval partnership projects between a consortium of UK industry and the Ukrainian Navy on Royal Navy Destroyer HMS DEFENDER in Odesa on 21 June,” reads the statement.
In particular, the memorandum provides for joint design and construction of warships in Ukraine and the United Kingdom, reconstruction of Ukrainian shipbuilding enterprises, and construction of two bases of the Ukrainian Navy.
This is the next step in the development of bilateral cooperation between Ukraine and the United Kingdom to strengthen the Ukrainian fleet which faces constant danger in the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov.
