The Ukrainian authorities began the voluntary evacuation of the civilian population from the territories of the Kherson and Mykolaiv regions liberated from the Russian occupiers, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Reintegration of Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine Iryna Vereshchuk has stated.
“Voluntary evacuation from the liberated territories in the south of Ukraine has already begun… This means that everyone can leave for safer regions if they wish, and the state will provide for their transportation, accommodation, medical care, etc.,” the official said.
According to her, it is primarily about vulnerable categories of citizens who cannot provide for themselves.
“Our task is to reach everyone and offer them a chance to leave through Mykolaiv or Kryvyi Rih and go to the western regions. We have the funds for this, we have understanding and, most importantly, experience… because we have already done this in the Kharkiv and Donetsk regions, etc.,” Vereshchuk stressed.
Meanwhile, Vitalii Kim, Head of the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration, noted that lists of those wishing to evacuate are being drawn up in the liberated cities, towns and villages of the region. A transit point has been set up in Mykolaiv where people can stay for a week before evacuation.
Earlier, Vereshchuk said that the evacuation from the Kherson region would not be massive, but necessary, since it would be difficult to survive the winter in some liberated towns and villages.
Yaroslav Yanushevych, Head of the Kherson Regional Military Administration, called on residents of the liberated territories in the region to evacuate due to the high risk of enemy attacks and the serious destruction of the region’s infrastructure.
