The Ministry of Defence of Ukraine concluded its first direct foreign economic agreements on military goods, having signed the contracts on technology transfer, production of corvettes, and combat UAVs for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
As the Ministry of Defence press-service reports, the documents signing took place during the Turkish delegation visit headed by Ismail Demir, the President of the Directorate of Defence of the Republic of Turkey.
The minister of Defence of Ukraine Andriy Taran said that the relevant contracts are concluded to strengthen the combat capabilities of the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and increase security in the Black Sea-Azov region.
“The parties discussed the contracts’ implementation within the framework of the inter-governmental agreement and stated that the cooperation between Ukraine and Turkey in the defence sphere is of a strategic nature. According to Taran, these are the first foreign economic agreements in the history of military goods concluded by the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine,” the Ministry’s press-service said.
