Russian invaders opened fire on Ukrainian positions in the Donetsk region. A Ukrainian serviceman was killed as a result of the enemy shelling, the operational and tactical group has reported.
The shelling occurred at about 20:45. The occupiers opened fire from a heavy machine gun on Ukrainian positions near Novomykhailivka.
“As a result of the shelling, one of the Ukrainian defenders was killed. An adequate response was given to the shelling of the Russian occupation forces. The command of the operational and tactical group expresses its sincere and deep condolences to the relatives and friends of the deceased soldier,” the statement reads.
Unfortunately, this was the second loss in one day. Oleksandr Hlushko, 36, was also killed by a Russian sniper’s bullet near the village of Zaitseve on 11 February. He served in the engineering and sapper platoon of one of the brigades of the Airborne Assault Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The Ukrainian soldier died during the evacuation.
