Official Ankara has recently received updated lists of Ukrainian political prisoners held by the Russian Federation, including Crimean Tatars. This was announced to Ukraine by Turkish Ambassador Yağmur Ahmet Güldere.
He emphasised that the issue of liberation of Ukrainian political prisoners is always on the agenda of Turkey.
“We are receiving updated lists, we are talking about recent changes in the situation. And we will continue to use all the means available to us to help solve this problem… And we will continue to help our Crimean Tatar and Ukrainian friends in this process,” the Ambassador said.
He stated that Turkey has not recognised the annexation of Crimea by Russia and will not recognise it.
It should be recalled that on 26 June, the Office of the President of Ukraine reported on 94 Ukrainian political prisoners who are in the territory of the temporarily occupied Crimea and Russia. About 70 of them are Crimean Tatars.
