Since 2004, the total amount of financial resources provided by the European Investment Bank (EIB) to Ukraine, both in public and private sectors, has reached more than EUR 7.5 billion. To date, the EIB’s public sector project portfolio consists of 25 projects totalling EUR 5.27 billion.
Deputy Finance Minister of Ukraine Oleksandr Kava notes that the credit resources provided by the EIB are an important source of financing for projects of development of the state. “We appreciate the support provided by our international partners, including the EIB, in the development of public sector of the Ukrainian economy. To date, the portfolio of EIB projects in the public sector is the largest among international financial organisations,” he adds.
In particular, joint projects with the EIB are aimed at improving the condition of Ukraine’s roads; modernising the energy sector; developing municipal, aviation, and railway infrastructure; developing transport logistics; supporting small and medium-sized businesses; and restoring social infrastructure in the Donetsk and Luhansk and several other regions.
