Today was a particularly impactful day as our veterans had the opportunity to meet with the Mayor of Brussels, Philippe Close. During this meeting, they discussed the critical importance of international support for Ukraine as it stands on the frontline defending democratic values and freedoms. We thank the City of Brussels for welcoming the veterans.
In addition to this high-profile meeting, our veterans also engaged with the media, giving interviews to several prominent outlets, including La Soir, Brussels Times, and Lithuanian TV. These interviews provided a platform for the veterans to share their firsthand experiences and emphasise the urgency of continued support from the international community, highlighting how such backing is vital not just for Ukraine, but for the preservation of democracy and freedom worldwide.
Throughout all their meetings and conversations, the veterans spoke passionately about their personal motivations. They explained why they decided to take part in the Brussels 20km, an event that symbolizes endurance, resilience, and solidarity. For many of these veterans, participating in this half marathon is not just a physical challenge but a powerful statement of their commitment to their country’s cause and their gratitude for the support received from around the world.
Their visit aims to remind everyone that sustained international support is crucial. The veterans’ stories of bravery and determination serve as a poignant reminder of the sacrifices being made daily and the ongoing need for global solidarity in the face of aggression.
As the visit progresses, our veterans will continue to share their stories, meet with influential figures, and raise awareness about the importance of standing with Ukraine
