The negotiations of political advisers to the leaders of the Normandy format members (Ukraine, France, Germany, Russia) in Berlin made a new summit holding closer. The Office of the President of Ukraine made such a statement following the meeting.
According to the statement, the talks in the German capital took 11 hours. Deputy Prime Minister, Minister for Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories Oleksiy Reznikov, together with the President’s Office Head Andriy Yermak, represent Ukraine in the talks.
The participants discussed the implementation process of the agreements reached at the Normandy Quartet meeting in Paris in December 2019. In addition, several urgent tasks to be implemented within the Tripartite Contact Group meetings were identified. They primarily concern the negotiation process acceleration and the establishment of preconditions for the next summit in the Normandy format in Berlin.
“The Paris Summit agreements must be fulfilled. Ukraine and its partners in the Normandy format, France and Germany, have shown their readiness to make all the effort to do so, ” the Ukrainian delegation highlighted.
At the same time, the Russian side “paused to prepare a response to the Ukraine, France and Germany consolidated position.”
To recap, the Russian representative in the talks, Dmitry Kozak, declared that there was no question of a breakthrough, yet the parties approached the agreement about the draft of the concrete measures for the armistice implementation in Donbas.
One reported earlier that the talks in Berlin would discuss a wide range of issues related to the implementation of the Minsk agreements and political settlement measures of the war in Donbas.
