Creation of “free economic zones” in Donbas will allow the revival of this territory in terms of business. This statement was made by the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal.
“Regarding the creation of attractive conditions for business … which will come to the territories that are temporarily occupied today…that are today located near the demarcation line, we have several directions. Of course, these are tax benefits, certain preferences in terms of starting and running business there. The vision and concept today is there. Specific steps of the Ministry of Economy together with the Ministry of Reintegration of the temporarily occupied territories will be developed and presented,” said the Head of the Cabinet.
According to him, the territories of priority development are a 15-20-kilometer zone within the demarcation line. It is there that the introduction of preferences for business, for job creation, is planned.
It should be recalled that last week the Head of the Ukrainian delegation to the Tripartite Contact Group, Leonid Kravchuk, came up with the idea of creating a free economic zone in Donbas. According to him, business preferences should be extended not only to the territories not controlled by Kyiv, but to all oblasts (Donetsk and Luhansk). The first president of Ukraine believes that in this case, people will do specific things, investments will go there, and “there will be no need to talk about any special status of Donbas.”
