Ukrainian serviceman has disappeared on the administrative border with the Russian-occupied Crimea.
According to the Military Law Enforcement Service of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the man was located on the observation post near the Chongar Peninsula. On the morning of May 30, he disappeared, and the immediate search has yielded no results.
According to the preliminary information, he was abducted while being on duty. The struggle traces were found near the observation post. Ukrainian media reported that a serviceman turned out to be the 95th Assault Brigade’s the 13th Battalion’s a senior soldier, Yevhen Dobrynsky. He comes from Sarny, Rivne region. Comrades claimed that Eugene could not voluntarily side with the enemy, at least he had no relationships in Crimea. Besides, Dobrynsky had a family and a small child. The military also rejects the version of treason.
According to informed sources, in the morning of May 31, representatives of the Russian special services called the 13th Battalion and clarified the soldier’s data. So far, the main version of the disappearance is the Ukrainian serviceman’s capture by Russians who had entered the observation post from the Crimea occupied territory.
At the same time, Ukrainian journalist Yuriy Butusov reported the details of the incident on his Facebook page. According to him, the soldier was at an observation post called «Blog», which was located on the front line and there were no other Ukrainian border guards posts in front of them.
The fighter was alone and unarmed, which, of course, would raise plenty of questions regarding the service provision, especially, since there had been several serious incidents on the administrative border with the occupied Crimea.
According to Butusov, there was no possibility of the Ukrainian fighter’s voluntary transfer to the enemy’s side, so now the Russian special services would «register» him as the Russian border violator.
«The most probably the enemy will use our soldier in his propaganda soon. Well, this is the result of our errors and systematic problems that have not been solved yet. Weaknesses in war are always fought for», the journalist summed up.
The Armed Forces of Ukraine command has ordered to intensify the guard duty on the administrative border with Crimea. At least two servicemen will be sent on duty, the strict control rules have been introduced too.
Let’s recall, that after the Crimea annexation by the Russian Federation in 2014, there was a formally administrative border between the mainland Ukraine and the peninsula, which was factually a real one.
At the end of May this year the Military Counterintelligence of the Security Service of Ukraine accused the Russian special services of illegally detaining a junior sergeant of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine at the administrative border.
Using violence and torture, Russian FSB officials tried to force a Ukrainian to confess to an alleged deliberate crossing of the administrative border. He was also persuaded to cooperate in favour of Russia.
In September 2015, three paratroopers of the 79th Brigade disappeared on the administrative border with the occupied Crimea. According to the Ukrainian military command, they had been captured by Russian saboteurs. Instead, the Russian Federation special services distributed a video in which Ukrainians stated that they had allegedly voluntarily gone to «fraternize» on the position of Russian border guards. After returning to the mainland, it was stated that the Ukrainian military had recorded a video under the Russian special services pressure.
Interestingly, that the Crimean Tatar People’s Majlis Speaker Refat Chubarov believes that under the current circumstances the Russian authorities need to provoke a conflict with Ukraine to look like the winners against the background of the recent failures and losses.
«Putin needs a logical and, importantly, objective reason, which in his opinion will justify new military actions against Ukraine. In this case, he will be able to raise the issue of providing Crimea with water. He will say that Kyiv has not resigned itself to «voluntary choice of people in Crimea, the right to self-determination, which is confirmed by the UN Charter and all international acts». And so Kyiv decided to conquer or destroy the people of Crimea by leaving them without water for so many years. And now the situation has become threatening for hundreds of thousands of people, threatening an ecological catastrophe not only for the peninsula but also for the Black Sea basin. Putin can come up with many things to justify his desire to expand hostilities against Ukraine to prove his image. He will try to justify them by the need to protect people’s rights, «the politician said.
According to Chubarov, the Russians can use force to control the area near the place where the water comes to the Crimea – that is the dam and Kakhovka reservoir in the Kherson region.
