About 5,000 people marched on Independence Square in Minsk for an opposition rally on the occasion of the unofficial Independence Day. The event ended with selective detentions, TUT.BY reports.
Belarusians came to the rally with posters “Briefcase under the armpit – and go,” “He did not win,” “Lukashenka to be resigned,” and “We will not forgive.”
After 9 p.m., police began detaining protesters. According to human rights activists from the Viasna Center in Minsk, 13 people were detained.
Similar actions took place in other cities of the country. So, in Grodno the militia detained 28 employees of “Grodno Azot.”
It should be recalled that the EU states that the elections in Belarus were not fair and competitive and calls for repeating the elections. At the same time, sanctions are going to be imposed against the organisers of falsifications and brutal dispersal of demonstrations.
