SBU Prevents Possible Transfer of Classified Data to Russian Secret Services

Counterintelligence officers of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) prevented the possible transfer of classified defence data to representatives of the Russian secret services. During the operative actions, one of the commanders of the military unit of the Western region, who secretly collected secret data on the arsenals of missile weapons in the territory of Ukraine, was exposed.

Among the revealed information were classified data on more than a dozen missile and ammunition storage bases of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, secret data on deployment schemes, and organisational and staffing structures of armaments arsenals, as well as on the staffing and hardware of relevant units.

The involvement of the offender in the intelligence and subversive activities of the Russian special services against the state security of our country is currently being investigated.

Within the criminal proceedings initiated by SBU investigators under Part 1 of Art. 422 (disclosure of information of a military nature that constitutes a state secret, or loss of documents or materials containing such information) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, a pre-trial investigation is underway to establish all the circumstances of the illegal activity.
