Counterintelligence of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) found that the aggressor’s special services acted in collusion with a former employee of the regional state administration, according to the SBU website.
A citizen of Ukraine was recruited by FSB during a trip to the temporarily occupied territory of Crimea in 2015. She collected intelligence information on military facilities and SBU officers. The woman also was to study the socio-political situation in the southern region of our country. In fact, she hung over the data on the activities of local government and administration, non-governmental international foundations and organisations, as well as certain politicians and public figures loyal to the Russian Federation.
The ex-official also involved other pro-Russian residents of Kherson in these FSB tasks. She transmitted the collected intelligence information through electronic communication channels, as well as during personal trips to the temporarily annexed territory of Crimea and to Moscow.
SBU investigators prepared a notice of suspicion for her in committing a criminal offense under Part 1 of Art. 111 “Treason” of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
