The counter-intelligence unit of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) detained an enemy informer in Kharkiv who was collecting data about the defence forces in the region for the Russian special services.
The defendant is a worker at one of the local railway stations. He monitored the routes of movement of mobile warehouses with military equipment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU).
Also, an enemy henchman tried to establish an approximate amount of heavy weapons that were transported to the front line in echelons.
In addition, the offender took photos of the consequences of Russian airstrikes on the infrastructure of the regional center.
He sent the received information in the form of media files to a closed pro-Russian Telegram group.
During the search, a mobile phone with evidence of his intelligence and subversive activities against our state was found.
The Security Service investigators served the detainee with a notice of charges under Part 2 of Art. 114-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (unauthorised dissemination of information about the transfer, redeployment of weapons, armaments, and military supplies to Ukraine, the movement, redeployment, or location of the Armed Forces of Ukraine).
The choice of pre-trial restraint in the form of detention is being examined. The investigation is ongoing. The perpetrator faces up to eight years in prison.
Complex measures were carried out by SBU officers in the Kharkiv region under the procedural guidance of the regional prosecutor’s office.
