To date, about 7,000 officers of special services are working against Ukraine from the territory of the Russian Federations, aiming to shatter and destabilise the situation in Ukraine. Head of the Cyber Security Department of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) Illia Vitiuk made a corresponding statement.
According to him, since the beginning of this year, the Department has blocked 15 extensive networks of anti-Ukrainian Internet agitators and has shut down about 20 sockpuppet farms with a capacity of more than 150,000 accounts.
“It is allegedly 150,000 people who comment something, share publications, write and give an assessment to events. We conducted an unprecedented special operation against the Armagedon hacker group, which was headquartered at the FSB of Russia and operated from Crimea,” Vitiuk said.
Over the first nine months of 2021, about 50 agents of the Russian special services were exposed in Ukraine, he added.
At the same time, the Head of the SBU’s Cyber Security Department stressed that internal strife in Ukraine “does not benefit our state and only exacerbates the external threat.”
Meanwhile, Richard Moore, chief of the British Secret Intelligence Service, known as MI6, believes that Russia and China can revolutionise geopolitics with the help of artificial intelligence.
British intelligence officers feel certain that Russia is rapidly developing its hacking capabilities. For example, the leadership of many Western countries are sure that it was Russian hackers who attacked the American company SolarWinds, which has about 300,000 customers, including almost all Fortune 500 companies and numerous U.S. federal agencies.
Hackers from Russia are also suspected of extorting money from British companies through ransomware.
