The Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine reports that several terrorist attacks – artificially provoked man-made disasters at critical infrastructure facilities – are planned to be carried out in the territory of Belarus soon. The location of the alleged “incidents” is the territory bordering the EU countries and Ukraine, in particular the Grodno and Brest regions of Belarus. The Belarusian Astravets Nuclear Power Plant is one of the main targets.
“The Russian special services are engaged in the development and implementation of the ‘project.’ Meanwhile, the State Security Committee of the Republic of Belarus was simply notified [of the plans]. Citizens of NATO countries and Ukraine, who will supposedly be disguised in Belarusian military uniforms, are traditionally appointed as responsible for terrorist attacks. To date, units of the Belarusian State Security Committee, Ministry of Internal Affairs, and border troops are already on high alert,” the intelligence officers said.
They emphasised that, according to the developers of the “project,” the attacks are designed to accelerate the involvement of the Belarusian army in the war in Ukraine on the side of the occupiers and create public opinion in Belarusian society necessary for the Kremlin.
As a reminder, the Astravets NPP was built by the Lukashenka regime in 2020 according to a Russian project and funded with Russian money. International experts note that the construction took place with gross violations of technological and environmental standards. The European Parliament adopted a resolution on safety at the Astravets NPP and expressed deep concern about the start of its commercial operation. Immediately after the launch, several serious accidents occurred at the plant accompanied by equipment explosions.
