The army of the aggressor state formed an offensive group and concentrated its attacks in the direction of Kupyansk direction.
“The enemy’s goal in (the) Kupyansk direction is to break through the defence of our troops and move directly to Kupyansk… The operational situation is difficult but controlled. The defence forces of Ukraine courageously hold back the enemy’s offensive there. The enemy has been conducting unsuccessful offensive operations in the area of Synkivka in (the) Kharkiv region for several days,” Deputy Minister of Defence of Ukraine Hanna Maliar posted on Telegram.
According to Maliar, the intensity of hostilities and enemy shelling is high, and some positions see several changes in situation per day. The command of the eastern group of troops made the necessary decisions for reinforcement.
According to Colonel-General Oleksandr Syrskyi, the Сommander of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Russian invaders chose the Kupyansk direction as the main point of their offensive. An offensive group consisting of eight Storm-Z assault units was created here, and intensive battles are ongoing.
“The enemy’s goal is to break through the defence of our troops and reach Kupyansk directly. The fighting is now extremely intense. Some positions have passed from hand to hand these days,” said the commander.
The Ukrainian fighters are courageously holding the defence, repelling all the enemy’s attempts to advance, he added.
Syrskyi also reported that all necessary decisions were made for “guaranteed deterrence of the enemy and creation of conditions for its further defeat.” Specifically, it is about additional strengthening military units with all the necessary forces, means and ammunition.
