Thanks to the evidence base of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), another informant of the special services of the Russian Federation, who spotted the aggressor’s air attacks on Kharkiv, received a real prison term.
At her tip, the occupiers launched missile attacks on residential areas of the regional centre. The invaders also used the coordinates of their spotter to shell local healthcare institutions and shopping malls.
These attacks caused civilian casualties and the destruction of the city’s residential and social infrastructure. In this way, the enemy hoped to intimidate the residents of Kharkiv and cause panic among the people.
In addition, the offender tried to identify the location of the units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the National Guard stationed in the city.
SBU counterintelligence officers detained the enemy informant as a result of a special operation in the Kharkiv region. As the investigation established, the perpetrator turned out to be a local resident who was involved in the cooperation by the Russian special services after the beginning of the full-scale aggression of the Russian Federation. Their accomplice used one of the popular messengers to communicate with the occupiers. During the searches, Russian rubles and a mobile phone with evidence of intelligence and subversive activities in favour of the Russian Federation were found in the detainee’s possession.
Based on the collected evidence, the court found the perpetrator guilty under Part 3 of Art. 114-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (unauthorised dissemination of information about the transfer, movement of weapons, armaments, and war supplies to Ukraine, movement, transfer, or deployment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine or other military formations formed in accordance with the laws of Ukraine, in conditions of war or state of emergency). According to the materials of the Ukrainian special service, the court sentenced her to 11 years in prison.
