Russia Trying to Compensate for Combat Losses with Mercenaries of Private Military Companies

Covert mobilisation in the central and southeastern regions of the Russian Federation is failing. The Russians increasingly refuse to die for the ideas of the Kremlin dictator, the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine reports.

Therefore, the ministry of defence of the aggressor state decided to increase the number of mercenaries of private military companies participating in hostilities in the territory of Ukraine. Primarily, the Russian command actively uses representatives of the Russian “Wagner” / “Liga” PMC in the war.

According to Ukrainian military intelligence estimates, there are currently about 4,500-5,000 militants in the temporarily occupied territories. They operate in certain directions as assault units in the first line of offensive troops.

At the same time, Russia is increasing its mobilisation reserves and plans to call up about 90,000 military personnel. A corresponding statement was made by Vadym Skibitskyi, the representative of the Chief Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine.

“Different approaches are used: so-called volunteer battalions, and reserve battalions, battalions of the so-called “Special Combat Army Reserve” (BARS), which they are now recruiting in each military district to compensate for losses, build up their force, and increase the number of the grouping that can be used against our state,” Skibitskyi said.
