Repression of Tatars in Crimea Continues

The Russian-controlled Kyiv District Court in Simferopol arrested and detained Medzhit Ablyamitov, a suspect in the Noman Chelebidzhihan Ukrainian Nationalist Battalion, until 17 October.

The Prosecutor’s Office of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea has already initiated criminal proceedings on the facts of the illegal detention and search of Medzhit Ablyamitov, a Ukrainian citizen.

According to Crimea SOS, Russian special services are persecuting Crimean people for alleged membership in a nationalist organisation. As its representatives do not take part in the fighting in Donbas, human rights activists consider the persecution to be politically motivated. Nowadays, the defendants in the “case” are Edem Kadyrov, Fevzi Saganji, Dilyaver Gafarov, Nariman Mezhmedinov.
