Russian President Vladimir Putin claims the resolution on local elections passed by the Verkhovna Rada on 15 July threatens the settlement process in Donbas.
He stated this to President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky during a telephone conversation between the heads of both states, the press service of the Russian president informs.
The Kremlin believes that the resolution, which enshrines local elections holding on 25 November, contradicts the Minsk agreements. The reason is the excluding of the occupied Crimea and ORDLO from the voting by Verkhovna Rada resolution.
To recap, Ukraine emphasises that local election in Donbas is possible only after full de-escalation, foreign military units and equipment withdrawal, illegal formations disarmament and resumption of the Ukrainian government control over the state border in the conflict zone.
