Russian President Vladimir Putin has requested to start the large-scale vaccination against COVID-19 with the Russian Sputnik V vaccine.
According to him, the production of about 2 million doses of the vaccine will be possible soon, which allows beginning the large-scale vaccination of the population, especially doctors and teachers.
“If you think that we have taken such a step right up close, I would ask you to organise your work in such a way that you will start large-scale vaccination at the end of next week,” Putin told Deputy Prime Minister Tatiana Golikova.
At the same time, Russian journalist Marina Litvinovich announced on Facebook that doctors in Moscow do not want to make free vaccinations and are leaving.
“Doctors have started to leave Moscow out-patients clinics massively due to the obligatory coronavirus vaccination. Doctors do not want to be vaccinated, but they are made to under the threat of dismissal,” Litvynovych wrote.
To recap, Russia loudly announced in August that it was the first in the world to develop a vaccine against COVID-19. In November, Russia announced the first results of the third phase of clinical trials which efficiency allegedly reached 92%.
Meanwhile, the international community has taken the Russian vaccine with significant distrust.
