DEBrussels, November 6, 2023 – Promote Ukraine, a non-governmental organisation dedicated to raising awareness and support for Ukraine, invites the public to join a demonstration honouring the Day of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The event is scheduled for noon on December 9, 2023, at Pl. du Congrès in Brussels.
Olena Kuzhym, a passionate volunteer and organiser of the protest, emphasises the significance of the demonstration: “We gather to express our gratitude to the brave soldiers of Ukraine who selflessly protect not only their homeland but also the shared values of freedom and democracy for all of Europe.”
The demonstration aims to shed light on the sacrifices made by Ukrainian soldiers, many of whom are ordinary citizens with civilian occupations. Kuzhym states, “These soldiers took up arms to defend their homes, land, and the principles that unite us in our pursuit of a peaceful and democratic coexistence.”
The focus of the event extends beyond gratitude, as Promote Ukraine calls on Belgium to strengthen its military support for Ukraine. Kuzhym emphasises the need for increased support, stating, “We require weapons primarily to protect civilians—individuals who aspire to live peaceful lives but have been denied that opportunity due to the aggression from Russia.”
The demonstration serves as a platform to unite voices and stress the importance of joint efforts to overcome the aggressor. Kuzhym concludes, “Only through collective determination can we defeat the aggressor and restore peace to the lands of Ukraine and Europe. Our belief in victory is unwavering, and the peaceful everyday life we cherish is made possible by the dedication of our defenders.”
