Immediately after the Russian invaders arranged a large-scale, man-made disaster by blowing up the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Plant dam, the Promote Ukraine team announced an urgent collection of humanitarian aid to people from the affected areas.
We managed to raise about 1,500 EUR in donations, to which we added 500 EUR of the organisation’s funds. The humanitarian mission was funded by Marta Barandiy, the founder of Promote Ukraine.
We decided not just to donate the collected amount but to go to the Kherson region on our own to see the scale of the disaster and hear what urgent needs people are currently facing.
On the way to Kherson, we loaded tablets for cleaning 360,000 liters of water and four pumps for pumping out water (1 pump pumps out 2,000 liters of water per minute).
We arrived in Kherson very symbolically – at the sunrise of the Ukrainian sun! It will certainly rise over all temporarily occupied territories!
We handed over the humanitarian cargo to the volunteers of the “Support Kherson” and “I Am Saved” foundations, who delivered aid to the areas most in need.
What we saw in Kherson is shocking. The scale of destruction is enormous. Russia is destroying the territory of Ukraine, committing ecocide, and the world must respond to this accordingly. We cannot let war criminals get away with this.
At the same time, there is something that really inspires hope – it is the strength and courage of the Ukrainian people! Near every flooded house, we saw rescuers and caring people who helped the victims: evacuated, gave food, clothes, and other necessary things.
We invite those who wish to join the support. More information on donations can be found at https://www.ukrainianhub.eu/donate.
Our task is to help and stick together! Only in this way will we be able to defeat and punish Russia for all its crimes. Glory to Ukraine!
