The road to the G7 should be closed to the Russian Federation until it returns the seized lands to Ukraine. Until then, the international community must put pressure on Russia. This statement was made by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky during an interview with the Canadian newspaper The Globe and Mail.
The Head of State noted that Canada had promised to assist official Kyiv in this matter.
“Justin Trudeau said that Russia has no chance to return to the G7 until the full restoration of Ukraine’s territorial integrity, and we are grateful for this support. And I must say that there will be no solution if the world does not put pressure on Russia on this issue,” Zelensky stressed.
According to him, for Ukraine, the search for peace with the Russian Federation is a “very difficult and confusing” task. And this requires international allies who must hold firm in the negotiations.
It will be recalled that US President Donald Trump expressed his intention to invite Russia to the G7 meeting in September, but the prime ministers of Canada and the United Kingdom said they would not allow Russia to join the G7 club until Ukraine regained its territories.
