Political pressure on the central bank in a legal, civilized state is unacceptable, a statement by the National Bank of Ukraine employees, published on the regulator’s Facebook page, declared.
The central bank employees of different levels and specializations – from department directors to managers and specialists – appealed to the public, experts and the business community, mass media, higher authorities and international organizations.
“It’s time to call a cat a cat. Regular information attacks, public insults and mudslinging in the public sphere, threats, ordered rallies under the National Bank’s walls and the blocking of its employees’ premises are not ‘a call for professional discussion.’ It is intimidation and blackmail,” the statement said.
The NBU team claims that it will continue to work after Chairman Yakiv Smoliy’s resignation. However, it supports the Board’s position that continuing pressure can destroy everything the National Bank has achieved over the past six years.
