Ukraine is in dire need of heavy weapons and long-range artillery to stop the unprovoked Russian invasion and to win this war unleashed by the Russian Federation in Europe. Today, Allied Defence Ministers will announce yet another package of weapons for Ukraine.
“Tonight, we will meet with Ukraine, Georgia, Sweden, Finland, and the European Union. This will be an opportunity for Defence Minister Reznikov to update us on what Ukraine urgently needs and for NATO Allies to make new announcements of support to Ukraine. Allies are committed to continue providing the military equipment that Ukraine needs to prevail, including heavy weapons and long-range systems,” NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said.
He also announced a plan for the transition from Soviet-era equipment to modern NATO equipment.
In addition, Stoltenberg said that after Russia‘s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the NATO bloc should further increase its readiness and strengthen its forces along the eastern border.
The NATO Secretary-General confirmed that President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky was expected to take part in the NATO Madrid Summit in a convenient format, given the circumstances.
