Today, more than 60,000 women defend Ukraine from full-scale Russian armed aggression, of which more than 42,000 are servicewomen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The Ministry of Defence reported this on Telegram.
“More than 60,000 women defend Ukraine. More than 42,000 of them are servicewomen. This number is constantly increasing because a significant number of Ukrainian women have joined the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in response to the Russian invasion,” the post reads.
The Ministry noted that considerable amendments to Ukrainian legislation, which allow women to fully realise themselves in the army, contribute to this process.
“They hold the defence on a par with men, fight, take risks and, unfortunately, give their lives. They are a model of courage and devotion for the whole world,” the Ministry of Defence emphasised.
As a reminder, in 2021, before the beginning of Russia’s large-scale invasion of Ukraine, the number of women in the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine was about 30,000.
