50.5% of Ukrainians believe that Ukraine will overcome Russia in the future, only 10.3% are convinced that Russia will do.
This was announced by Deputy Director of the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology Anton Hrushetsky during the presentation of sociological research “Socio-political orientations of the population of Ukraine” results.
“50.5% believe that Ukraine will overcome Russia in the future, only 10% believe that Russia will defeat Ukraine. With an expanded phrasing though, only 37.2% think that Ukraine will gain a victory over Russia, because Russia is a weak undeveloped state, while Ukraine is supported by the whole civilized world. However, 31.2% of the population chose the answer that Ukraine would never overcome Russia because it was much politically and economically weaker,” Hrushetsky said.
According to him, 48.8% of respondents believe that Ukraine needs to negotiate with the Russian Federation and the “DPR / LPR” representatives to achieve peace in the Donbas. At the same time, 35.1% of respondents are assured that for the sake of peace in the country, it is impossible to make concessions to the Kremlin and its legionnaires in eastern Ukraine.
The survey was conducted during April 26-30, 2020 by telephone interviews throughout Ukraine, excluding the occupied territories of Crimea, Donetsk and Luhansk regions. 1,500 interviews were conducted during the survey.
