Some units of Russian private military companies involved in the war against Ukraine are suffering significant losses in the Kharkiv region.
“Private military companies operating in temporarily occupied territories, particularly in Oleksandrivka locality, Kharkiv region, suffer significant losses. There are more than 40% of seriously wounded and killed in some units. The bodies of many of the fallen have not been identified and are considered missing,” the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reports.
At the same time, the analysts of the U.S. Institute for the Study of War note that the Armed Forces of Ukraine conducted on 6 September a sudden counterattack near the locality of Balakliya in the Kharkiv region, driving Russian forces back to the left bank of the Siverskyi Donets and Serednya Balakliika rivers.
The U.S. experts also conclude that the redeployment of Russian troops from the Kharkiv region and eastern Ukraine to the south will create an opportunity for new Ukrainian counterattacks.
