On 25 February, a mass demonstration against the Russian invasion of Ukraine took place in Brussels. It was dedicated to the anniversary of the start of the war, a DW correspondent reports. The march was organised by the Ukrainian NGO Promote Ukraine, the Union of Ukrainian Women in Belgium, and the Belgian committee of the European Network in Solidarity with Ukraine (ENSU).
“The invasion has already claimed the lives of tens of thousands of Ukrainian citizens. Every day the Ukrainian people face cruelty and violence. Millions of citizens were forced to flee abroad, millions became displaced persons. Entire towns and villages were reduced to rubble as a result of Russian bombings and airstrikes,” Marta Barandiy, founder of Promote Ukraine, said to The Brussels Times.
