Lithuania is ready to build a strategic partnership with Ukraine and make efforts to consolidate international support for the reforms. Ambassador of the Republic of Lithuania to Ukraine Valdemaras Sarapinas announced this at a meeting with Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine Vasyl Bodnar, the Foreign Ministry said.
The parties discussed preparations for the meeting of the Council of Presidents of Ukraine and Lithuania, which is to take place this year. Other bilateral events in the trade, economic and investment cooperation fields, as well as European integration, were also discussed.
Vasyl Bodnar thanked the Lithuanian diplomat for his country’s support in obtaining a status of NATO’s Enhanced Capabilities Program member by Ukraine and for the aid to counter Russian aggression against Ukraine, which is the main element of cooperation in security and defence fields
The Lithuanian Ambassador supported the reform process in Ukraine. He also assured the readiness for close cooperation in the International Conference on Reforms in Ukraine preparation. This conference had been planned in Vilnius these days but was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
