President Volodymyr Zelensky signed a decree which appointed the first President of Ukraine Leonid Kravchuk to the position of the Ukrainian delegation’s Head to the Tripartite Contact Group in Minsk.
According to the press service of the President’s Office, as a former State’s Head, Kravchuk has the relevant experience to participate in the negotiation process of such a level.
The first President of Ukraine noted that he would do his best in this position to achieve peace in Donbas.
According to Kravchuk, Ukraine and the European States, which truly profess the principles of international law, sovereignty and independence, are to unite around achieving peace in Ukraine.
Besides, the new Head stated that some members of the Ukrainian delegation to TCG could be changed.
“I assume that the group led by Leonid Kuchma has taken important steps under difficult conditions. So, we do not start life from scratch. We start with certain pros. But there were also cons,” Kravchuk said.
He also informed that a meeting with the Ukrainian delegation would take place on 3 August to discuss further actions. However, the decision on staff changes should depend not only on the opinion of the delegation’s Head.
