Ukraine sent letters to the companies that support the International Olympic Committee the most regarding the inadmissibility of the participation of Russian athletes in the Olympics.
“We also continue our diplomatic marathon to prevent the Kremlin from using world sports and the Olympic movement for its propaganda. Representatives of a terrorist state should have no place at the Olympics and international tournaments. Ukraine has sent respective letters to the companies that support the International Olympic Committee the most. These are large international companies that are definitely interested in ensuring that their reputation and support are not used for war propaganda,” President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky stated.
Earlier, Minister of Sports Vadym Huttsait warned that Ukraine would boycott Paris 2024 Summer Olympics if Russians and Belarusians were allowed to participate in the competition.
The other day, Minister of Sports and Tourism of Poland Kamil Bortniczuk, said that a meeting of sports ministers from about 40 countries, including the EU member states, Great Britain, Australia, Canada, South Korea, and Japan, would be held on 10 February to discuss the participation of Russians and Belarusians in the 2024 Summer Olympic Games. It is expected that the meeting participants will support a tough position on not allowing representatives of Russia and Belarus to participate in the Olympic Games.
