In over one month of a full-scale invasion, Russia has destroyed many architectural landmarks and works of art, which were essential parts of the Ukrainian national identity. On 1 March, Russian forces fired missiles at a TV tower in Kyiv and the Babyn Yar site. As a result of the attack, five people died. Not only did the Russian artillery cynically kill civilians and shell the memorial site where the Nazis shot an estimated 70,000 to 100,000 people during World War II, it also damaged the building of the Museum of the Holocaust in Eastern Europe, which was supposed to open in Babyn Yar.
